摘要: ObjectivePanaxnotoginsengisanimportantChinesemedicinalplant.SaponinaccumulationishigherintheflowerbudsthanintheotherpartsofP.notoginseng.However,theflowerbudcompositionshavenotyetbeenquantified.TheaimofthisstudyistoinvestigatetheformationandaccumulationofsaponinsintheflowerbudsofP.notoginsengfromdifferentpopulationsandatdifferentgrowthyears.MethodsFourteentypesofP.notoginsengwithdifferentgrowingdurationsandfromdifferentareasofWenshanCounty,YunnanProvincewerecollected.WeseparatedP.notoginsengindividuallyintotheflowerbuds,stems,leaves,androotsattheplaceswhereithasthehighestsaponincontent.Anefficienthigh-performanceliquidchromatography(HPLC)methodwasdevelopedforsimultaneouslyquantifyingtwoactivesaponins,ginsenosideRb1andginsenosideRb3,intheflowerbudsofP.notoginseng.Thetotalsaponincontentwasdeterminedbyusingaquantitativevanillin-sulfuricacidcolorimetricmethod.HPLCmethodwasusedtoestablishthefingerprintsof13saponinsandthenquantifythecompositioninthewholeplantofP.notoginseng.ResultsThesaponincontentsofdifferentpartsdiffersignificantly,andthetotalsaponincontentandthoseofRb1andRb3donotentirelycorrelated.TheflowerbudsofP.notoginsengcontain27.79%oftotalsaponins,whichisthehighestsaponincontentinthewholeplant.Fingerprintresultshowedthatdifferentsaponinswereappearedindifferentpartsoftheplant,i.e.flowerbuds,stems,leaves,androots.ConclusionThesaponincontentsfromtheflowerbudsofP.notoginsengvarydependingonthegrowthareaandduration.ThefingerprintsshowthatthesaponincontentsandcompositionsvarydependingonthepartofP.notoginseng.TheseresultsareusefulforthepharmacologicalevaluationandqualitycontrolofP.notoginseng.
