FactorsassociatedwithvisceralfataccumulationinthegeneralpopulationinOkinawa,Japan

摘要： AIM:Toinvestigatetheclinicalandbiochemicalfactorsassociatedwithvisceralfataccumulationinthegeneralpopulation.METHODS:Weenrolled1004subjectswhounderwentamedicalhealthcheckupbetweenApril2008andMarch2009.Themedicalhealthcheckupincludedthefollowingtests:Height,bodyweight,waistcircumference(WC),systolicbloodpressure,diastolicbloodpressure,urinalysis,blood-cellcounts,bloodchemistry,electrocardiography,chestradiography,andabdominalcomputedtomography(CT)forvisceralfataccumulation.Thepatients’medicalhistoryandlifestylefactorswerecollectedprivatelybynursesusingaselfadministeredquestionnaire,andtheyincludedquestionsregardingphysicalactivity,sleepduration,dietaryhabits,smoking,andalcoholconsumption.visceralfatarea(VFA)wasdefinedasthesumoftheintraperitonealfatareaattheleveloftheumbilicuswithCTdensityintherangeof-150to-50Hounsfieldunits.RESULTS:Themeanageandbodymassindex(BMI)ofthestudysubjectswere57.0yearsand24.4kg/m2.Inbothmaleandfemales,vFAwassignificantlyandpositivelycorrelatedwithWC(r=0.532,P<0.01;r=0.612,P<0.01).SubjectswithhighlevelsofvFAwereprimarilymalewithsignificantlyhigherage,height,bodyweight,BMI,systolicbloodpressure(BP),diastolicBP,andhemoglobininallsubjects(P<0.05).AmultivariatelogisticregressionanalysisrevealedthatvFAhadapositiverelationshipwithage≥56,BMI≥25kg/m2,andtriglyceridelevel≥149inmales(P<0.05),whereasithadapositiverelationshipwithage≥58,BMI≥24.4kg/m2,high-densitylipoproteincholesterollevel<40mg/dL,andcurrentdrinkinginfemales(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Theseresultssuggestthatgenderdifferencesexistintheclinicalandbiochemicalparametersassociatedwithvisceralfataccumulation. （共7頁）
